Rich Weinstein posts videos taken from an economics conference, where Jonathan Gruber has a puzzling admission.Jonathan Gruber at a October 17, 2013 conference, on the passage of the ‘Affordable Care Act’:
Speaking January 10, 2012 at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber states that insurance subsidies are tied to state-based exchanges.:
senior editor at Vox Media , attempts to put it in context:
Gruber’s role was “mostly number-crunching. In 2009 Health and Human Services awarded Gruber a $297,000 contract to consult on ‘options for national health reform.’

Grubergate’ rages on — and for me, it’s getting personal. So far NBC, ABC, the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, and others, have been only too happy to comply. Those outlets have not even mentioned the video evidence from Jonathan Gruber. It’s shocking, but it actually doesn’t surprise me because when I was at CNBC, I pointed out to my viewers that the math of Obamacare simply didn’t work. Not the politics by the way. But just the basic math. And when I did that, I was silenced.
Francis joined FBN in 2011. At CNBC she was the co-anchor of “Power Lunch” and “The Call.”
President Obama on Jon Gruber (H/T Zerohedge.com )
“Some adviser who never worked on our staff expressed an opinion that I completely disagree with”
Flashback 2006: Senator Obama speaking at a 2006 Brookings Institution meeting
“the brightest minds from academia and policy circles, many of them I have stolen ideas from liberally, people ranging from Robert Gordon to Jon Gruber.”
Flashback July 25, 2014:
Gruber responds on the issue of State Subsidies via The New Republic
There are few people who worked as closely with Obama administration and Congress as I did, and at no point was it ever even implied that there’d be differential tax credits based on whether the states set up their own exchange.
Flashback March 10, 2010: Jane Hamsher– How the White House Used Gruber’s Work to Create Appearance of Broad Consensus “The White House is placing a giant collective bet on Gruber’s “assumptions” to justify key portions of the Senate bill ”
Jon Gruber testifies and apologizes about his remarks as “glib, thoughtless, and sometimes downright insulting”
The Wall Street Journal’s editorial, characterizes his apology as unpersuasive: “his response to substantive questions suggested that he is mainly sorry for getting caught on tape”
Massachusetts’ governor has fired Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber from a board that oversees the state’s health insurance exchange, a source confirmed to the Washington Examiner.
