Biggest NBA Draft Busts In History Timeline

The 2012-13 NBA Season is launching on October 31st.  After a strike shortened season in 2011 in which the Miami Heat dominated the Oklahoma Thunder in the season finals, as always, there are lots of stories to watch as they unfold.

One of them to watch is the progress of number 1 draft pick Anthony Davis by the Charlotte Hornets.  On top of that, the Hornets signed a highly regarded Duke Blue Devil Austin Rivers at point guard at number 10.  It was one of the most interesting drafts we’ve seen in quite awhile.  While everyone is expecting Davis to excel eventually, it’s never a slam dunk.  Injury, acclimating to the grueling NBA 82 game schedule,  and matching up with the best talent on the planet has G.M.s and fans alike anxious about the investments, now under a new rookie salary scale that’s intended to mitigate the risk of the dreaded “bust”.  Below is a timeline of past NBA drafts and the most notable busts.
